PULASKI COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — The Pulaski County coroner has determined the cause of death for a Lafayette man who was shot by police during a chase Tuesday.

According to the the coroner’s office, 36-year-old Peter Doffin Junior died from blood loss due to multiple gunshot wounds.

As News 18 previously reported, the incident started around 5 a.m. Tuesday when Doffin abducted his teenage daughter from a home in Warren County.

Police started pursuing Doffin’s SUV as he was heading east on State Road 26 in Tippecanoe County and continued through Carroll, White and Pulaski counties. Doffin’s SUV was finally stopped on US 421, just north of the White-Pulaski county line.

Police say Doffin got out of his SUV, displayed a weapon and made threatening gestures toward the officers. Doffin was then shot multiple times by police.

No officers were hurt, and police said Doffin’s teenage daughter was OK.
