Public gets a glimpse at State Street Project as construction starts soon

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Changes are coming for drivers in West Lafayette as construction on the State Street Project gets underway.

The city hosted two meetings Thursday to inform the public about those changes. Several people, including business owners and Purdue University employees, were in attendance.

Construction will start April 3. Some of the upcoming road closures include a portion of State Street, Marstellar Street and Tapawingo Drive.

West Lafayette Director of Development Erik Carlson explained drivers will need to deal with the closures until the end of November.

“State Street itself is only going to be under construction in 2017. The roads that are touching it, that are changing from one-way to two-way, that’s happening this year,” he said. “Next year, we’re looking at the perimeter parkway and none of that is actually going to impact State Street.”
