LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Greater Lafayette Commerce is celebrating its first Accelerate 765 Pop-up Series Tuesday.
Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger was welcomed as the event’s guest speaker. He talked about how this is Indiana’s time with former Gov. Mike Pence as vice president of the United States.
Schellinger touched on ways Tippecanoe County is helping with current Gov. Eric Holcomb’s agenda. He said one of those includes Holcomb’s $1 billion initiative to invest in innovation and entrepreneurship.
“No one is doing that better than the Purdue Research Foundation right now at the Research Park with the new Aerospace Park, and so many other things that are happening at Purdue and all around Tippecanoe County,” Schellinger said.
Greater Lafayette Commerce President and CEO Scott Walker says he hopes people gained understanding from the event.
“We’re hoping that we understand the state’s agenda,” Walker said. “And we can help align our efforts as economic development here in Greater Lafayette to what the state’s working on and continue to see success.”
Walker said this was the first of many Accelerate 765 events to come. He said he plans to use the platform to invite several other state and national leaders to help Greater Lafayette Commerce grow the community.
