WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — March Madness continues for the Boilermakers. The men’s basketball team will play Iowa State Saturday night. News 18 caught up with fans who are looking forward to tip-off.

Purdue pulled out the win against Vermont Thursday night, 80-70. News 18 spoke with students on Chauncey Hill who said they were relieved the team made it out of the first round. It was the first time they did so in five years.

For Saturday’s game, Purdue fans are hoping for the same result.

“I’m excited, very excited. It’s always a good time,” said Jake’s bar manager Ryan Merchant. “It’s nice to see that they got past that first round game, it was a tough one.”

Purdue student Dakota Isgrigg said, “This is a really good opportunity to show the world what we can do. And I know over the last couple of years, we’ve gotten knocked out in the first couple of rounds, so it’s a really good opportunity to make the Sweet Sixteen.”

The game will start at 9:40 p.m. on TBS.

Campus bars and restaurants will be having March Madness specials. For example, Jake’s near Chauncey Mall will have Boiler Up specials for Saturday’s game.
