KOKOMO, Ind. (WLFI) — Kokomo residents are without a well-known restaurant Thursday after it burned down overnight.
PASTArrific, in the 3000 block of South Webster Street, has been a staple in the city since 1987 and it’s been destroyed.
“It’s very sad and devastating,” Kokomo resident Sondra Strus said. “It’s an iconic site for the residents of Kokomo.”
The fire started around 3 a.m. Thursday at the restaurant. A witness spotted the fire and called for help.
Firefighters battled the flames for more than three hours, which were at one point seen shooting through the roof.
According to the Kokomo Fire Department, no one was injured in the fire.
“It’s always disbelief, at first, when you hear of a tragedy or that kind. But of course, everyone is relieved when no one was hurt. We’re very disappointed that it’s not going to be here for a while, but very hopeful that it will be rebuilt soon,” Kokomo resident Sondra Strus said.
According to restaurant’s owner, the area that caught fire was in the process of being remodeled.
The owner said even though this is hard to take right now, she’s determined to reopen.
Although it was first established decades ago, the business moved to its Webster Street location in 1995.
