LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Six area students were recognized and given thousands of dollars in awards for their hard work throughout the community Tuesday night.
It was the annual Celebrate Youth! Banquet organized by Bauer Family Resources. Teens were honored for overcoming obstacles in their lives or contributing in areas like sportsmanship, creative self-expression or commitment to learning.
Harrison High School senior Liam Trumble won the Charles Mikels’ Citizenship Through Service award for his work with student council.
“Just everything we do contributes to the community. Being proactive as young as you can is really important, just going out and doing your best and striving to improve the community. So, it’s the best it can be in the future,” said Trumble.
Family, friends, sponsors and Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski were there to help recognize the students.
News 18’s Jeff Smith emceed the event.
