Celebrate Youth! campaign kicks off

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Several deserving students will be getting big bucks in April as Bauer Family Resources kicks off its annual Celebrate Youth! campaign.

Five $1,000 prizes will be given to area kids who have overcome obstacles at a banquet in April. A $2,000 prize will be presented to the “Youth of the Year.”

Last year’s top prize went to Joe Yeaman, who gave a portion of the winnings to his siblings and put the rest toward education expenses at Purdue. He advises this year’s applicants to not be shy and show their true self in their essay entries.

“Don’t let the little things set you back,” said Yeaman. “Don’t let the troubles that you go through stop you from what you want to do in life.”

Yeaman added that he is very grateful for the program, noting that those funds go a long way for students like him.

If you’d like to nominate someone, you can either pick up an application in person at the Bauer Community Center at 330 Fountain Street, or you can fill one out online.
